Arm Pain (Brachalgia)

lClearly a multitude of problems can cause arm pain. There are however three methods by which problems in the neck can produce arm pain.

Firstly the joints in the neck can result in pain felt a both in and between the shoulders. This can respond very well to a number of treatments that we offer. The joints are marked in blue here.

Secondly the nerves going to the arm can be irritated in the neck by a bone spur, a disc or by stretching. This causes inflammation of the nerve which can respond very well to steroids injected around the nerve itself. The nerves can be seen in yellow here.

Thirdly the muscles in the neck are felt to sometimes be responsible for arm pain. Generally when muscles hurt they do so for a reason. The treatment for this kind of pain consists initially of dealing with the reason for the muscle spasm or tension. Once the underlying cause is addressed hands on massage \ muscle release techniques by physical therapy can help considerably.

Clearly your pain may not be coming from your neck. We would be delighted to evaluate you to try and determine what is causing your pain.
