Sacroiliac (SI) joint injection Pain in the region of the sacroiliac joint pain is very common. It can be difficult to distinguish true SI joint pain from other sources of pain such as
pain coming from the spine, muscles or hip joint.
During an SI joint injection a small quantity of local anesthetic and steroid are injected into the joint. When the pain is coming from the SI joint this can help considerably. It is important that SI injections be performed in a coordinated fashion with physical therapy to strengthen the muscles that cross the joint. | |||
