What About Chiropracters?

lI have whiplash and was told that I should see the chiropractor first; is that correct?

Chiropractic manipulation of the neck can result in strokes. Over thirty deaths are documented in the literature from chiropractic manipulation of the neck. A study by chiropractors demonstrated that only 16% of patients having manipulation of their neck were appropriate for that treatment. The same study concluded that there was NO evidence to support the use of chiropractic manipulation for acute neck pain. Contrast this with one of the techniques that we utilize where up to 86% of patients can obtain complete relief! If you have whiplash come to us first! If you are tempted to look at other treatments then please ask for research to back up those treatments.

I have low back pain and was told that I should see the chiropractor first; is that correct?

In our experience chiropractors can certainly sometimes help patients with pain coming from the Sacroiliac (SI) joints. Success, when it comes, is apparent after the first treatment and persists. Ideally before having any kind of manipulative therapy you should be evaluated by a specialist physician. We do frequently prescribe manipulative therapy as part of a physical therapy program. All of the physical therapists who work with us are able to provide SI joint manipulation if needed. We feel that if you need manipulation then our comprehensive approach at a single location would provide you with the most benefit.

My chiropractor can see me today, how soon can you see me?

If you need to be seen quickly, we will try and accommodate you. If there is urgency we can schedule you very quickly. So as to minimize the cost and inconvenience you experience, you will need a referral from your physician and will need to bring copies of any MRI films you have had with you for your appointment. MRI reports sadly are not always correct. We frequently pick up significant findings that have previously been missed when we view the actual films.
